I was trying to get my student loans under control today and decided that they are a joke. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting money but why does it have to be so hard to get and take so long to get to me?

I am sure someone could answer all of these questions for me, perhaps even the girl I just talked to at UHEAA, but I still don’t think I would be satisfied.

I should probably be glad that there is a system put in place for people like me who would not be able to pay for school otherwise. Thanks, government. I look forward to paying it all back once I am making oodles of money.

I also shouldn’t be complaining because the amount of debt I am in after my four years of college life is less than the debt accrued for just one semester at other schools.

Now that I have counted my blessings, the fact still remains that I wish I had my money for school a month ago.

Getting an education is expensive, so be prepared. Look into Financial Aid for your education and see the many options you have.

Most of our lives take place on the internet now, why shouldn’t our education?

I just saw a billboard with the oldest college graduate. She was old. I don’t know if she finished her education online, but I am going to assume that she did.

Although you don’t get the human interaction that is often helpful in certain classes, online education is incredibly convenient and totally legit for people that just aren’t able to get to the physical school.

I took a Philosophy class online. I was initially reluctant to take an online class. It was rough. But I still learned what I needed to learn and what I would have learned had I been in the classroom. It also freed up my time to do other things that were definitely worth my time and energy.

Online education seems second class and not as engaging but don’t knock it ’til you try it. I know the old lady on the billboard didn’t.

We’re here, moneyless, and we find out this sweet way to get free money. “It’s from the government and they just give it to you. All you have to do is fill out 8,000 forms!” “Nice!” we reply enthusiastically.

It’s not until you near the end of your college career that you realize you have to give all that money back. How weird that we are never thinking during those hours and hours of FAFSA forms that this money isn’t totally free.

Once this realization hits, you suddenly become aware of your lack of income and, therefore, lack of means to pay your loans back.

I really wish – sometimes- I had been eligible for grants.

I love capitalism. You want to know why? Because business can thrive in a capitalist economy.
I also love business. Why do I love business? Because the whole reason for their existence is to make money, which is ultimately what I want.

I know that money can’t buy happiness; my mom taught me that. But I also know that having money relieves a lot of stress that comes as a result of having little or no money. So I say to relieve as much stress as you can and get as much money as possible. And once you have relieved all the stress you can, you can donate it to other people . . . or something.

So, thank you business for letting me make money. And thank you capitalism for creating an economy suitable for successful business.

My grandmother and I were talking about her new computer over dinner one night and she mentioned her love for the Internet. She told me all about how whenever she wants to know about something, she can just look it up and she has all the information she needs. The web is a great tool and it is hard to go a day without it. But I survived several days without it and I am here to tell my story. But I still love technology.

Everyone talks about how you can’t expect to land a good job unless you have a good internship. They rarely mention that you also can’t be a douche, but I digress.

I think we are missing the point when we talk about internships getting us good jobs. The point of an internship is to give us direction in our careers.

I don’t know about you, but I want more than a job. I want a career. The thought process during your internship should be more along the lines of “Do I want my career to be spent doing this?”

My thought is that any internship you do will be invaluable and that you should milk it for all it’s worth; build your portfolio, network like there’s no tomorrow. But don’t think that your career path has to follow what you did in your internship. Make sure you love whatever you decide to do.
