What comes to mind when you think of the word “marketing”? Probably a million different things. Depending on what discipline you are involved in within the realm of marketing, you are going to think of different things first.

For me, advertising is the first thing that comes to mind (because that is what I do), immediately followed by Public Relations, Media, online marketing, grassroots, publicity, sales, promotions, and the list goes on.
Can we say what part of marketing is the most important? the most effective? Some of you may have an idea of what you think is most important.
It has been my experience that the right combination, mix of all or some marketing elements is what makes a really successful marketing campaign. Your publicity stunt may be a flop without the help of online buzz. Or your advertising could be great, but you had crappy media placement.
As an advertiser, I have to say how important I think advertising is in order to save face. But I think we all know that advertising is pointless without a sound marketing mix to back it up.
